It’s weird what inspirations I notice in my art after I’ve drawn something. There’s a surprising amount of Star Wars in Pangadar—the ghastly prequels, not the good stuff. The prequels had some good visuals amidst all the carnage of story and characterization, and the cityscapes poking above the cloud banks and the general look of Kashyyyk’s tree cities have shaped the appearance of Pangadar. I wanted to get away from the simple Aztec style I had originally visualized, especially since there’s a lot of Aztec imagery in Hadrakahn architecture (which is a sort of crazy mishmash of Aztec and Celtic styling, with a bit of Pacific Northwest).
