>> I was curious about Anthem’s soul. Was it consumed by the lava goddess? Did it move on to the stars of death and sleep or to be tormented on Karrd?
> It is the lava goddess.
So the old Anthem inadvertently reprogrammer her mind to think and act like the lava goddess, a sci-fi style ascension/transcension ( http://www.orionsarm.com/eg-article/47a535f90f47a ), albeit probably not a desirable one since her personality and goals were overwritten. But, hey, she did get to become an immortal goddess, so in some sense that’s a win. And the emulated Anthem is being emulated by a transcendent version of herself. Perhaps it would be more comforting for her to think of herself as the stray thoughts of her transcendent self, rather than as stray thoughts of a separate goddess. In other words, if the soul is the key to selfhood, then Anthem still exists and has become a goddess and is play-acting as her old self; and if the mind is the key to selfhood, then Anthem’s emulated self is still her; so either way, emulated Anthem has a good claim to consider herself the real Anthem.
However, it is disturbing that she doesn’t feel like herself.
And, on the other hand, when regenerated Anthem dies, will her emulated mind then possibly go to an afterlife, e.g. Karrd? Because if not, then her situation is quite different from the old Anthem’s situation; she doesn’t have to worry about damnation, but otoh can’t look forward to any potentially happy afterlife either, or even to an unconscious ‘sleep’ in the stars in a manner that might inspire others or at some future point somehow be awakened.
Wherein we discover it is all the fault of stupid mortals.
It is always the fault of stupid mortals. Even when it isn’t.
Anyone else think the fact Vish is now unabashedly grooming Anthem is adorable?
Of course. Stupid mortals. Duh.
Also, Anthem’s blush is adorable.
Beak-face is what Gurahl used to look like?
No wonder the gods had him killed off-someone with a mask that ugly can’t be pretty underneath it!
The fish/eagle/king/ant-faced god is Yamra, the Water Phoenix King. You also see him here. Gurahl is the Big Floaty Head in the back.

Who’s the blighter with the beaky plague mask on ‘is face an’ no bloody eyeballs?
“Who’s the blighter with the beaky plague mask on ‘is face an’ no bloody eyeballs?”
The otherwise-unnamed Torture Lord.
Aaaaaah. I see.
