Not that I’m not happy for Anthem to have a small measure of happiness in what I presume to be her last few hours of being who she is now…
But I must say I was expecting at least an angry outburst of anguish from Vish for deciding behind his back to effectively sacrifice almost half of the population of the city to break a chain.
And what is with Vish that has him falling for all the doomed ladies?
First a dragon, then a rat-shifter and now Anthem.
He’s the chaos angel of breaking chains and midnight sneaks born for the specific purpose of opening up a fireball that will burn the old world away and hopefully leave enough behind to birth a new world in the ashes.
And the price has already been high, he knows more people will die and more things will be destroyed in the name of breaking the chains.
Darumatha [the chain broke when Darumatha was freed; his destruction isn’t necessary, but probably a good idea for, you know, the good of the world]

Each corresponds to a level of “being” or “consciousness” or whatever you want to call it: existence, growth, movement, intelligence, and ?? (divinity; whatever makes gods gods).
Tamantha enforces a strict division between these levels of being: inanimate objects, plants, animals, people, and gods aren’t allowed to move among the levels. Anything that does Tamantha labels “demonic” and eventually punishes with insanity and disability.
So Yamra/Gurahl’s (?) master, “don’t break this or it all goes to shit” reality control plan hinged on the Yigs never moving beyond the status of savage and violent barbarians and the Dragons (which he was purposely driving insane) of Zaiapan never flip out and go on a rampage.
Yigs, who are sapient and therefore going to develop civilization and Dragons, who by their very nature are going insane.
Well, Gurahl, the figure who constructed this system, never planned on dying. That was sort of the big hitch. Presumably an intelligent, active god of domination would have had contingency plans. (In fact he had one: the Water Phoenix King. That didn’t work either.)
We Know when Yamra was killed but how long ago was it that Ailari killed Gurahl and how did she manage that? is it somehow linked to the broken state of Gurahl’s world Karrd?
1) about 3,000 years ago, 2) with a great deal of cleverness–the exact details are not well-known, even to people like Anthem, and 3) yes, because Karrd was once a paradise-realm for Gurahl’s faithful.

Hope Vish manages to save DMH, she’s a fun one.
How many more chains to go?
Is Darumatha the only one left?
Plus, I have to say I love this arc.

And that is today’s theory lesson.

For a god, he makes really shitty plans.
