Talk about having Varaxunax by the balls there…
So the Boreal Hammer doesn’t kill it just petrifies?
I thought Varaxunax sold pieces of his soul not Shares/Percentages
Shouldn’t The Dead Demons Pieces default back to him?
By the way can Vax still use the gifts from the dead demons?
“So the Boreal Hammer doesn’t kill it just petrifies?”
The hammer has a couple of effects. Petrification, liquefaction, blinding, probably worse stuff. It’s a very disagreeable contraption.

Yeah, lots of diabolists think it works that way. Sadly, it does not. Except for in a few instances, you’re not selling your soul to a demon; you’re selling your soul to an intricate and fantastically ancient soul-exchange network of which your demon patron is a participant. Upon the death of the demon who owns your soul or part of it, a legalistic framework takes over that transfers ownership to another “share-holder.”

Also: I like how Maresh the lowly peasant boy continues to be the mensa-spanking smartest member of the Tamantha Fan Club, despite rolling with gods and ghosts who really OUGHT to be smart.
Maresh is looking pretty emo with that dark eyeliner. 😀
