I might actually have to use the severed ghosts (or an analogue to them) in the campaign that I’m running… The speciality of one of the Big Bads is summoning up demons and demon-like creatures on the fly.
1) Why does Anthem get so pink in face after a battle and is there any truth to Maresh’s accusation in Ch05 page 44?
2) Are those shoulder-pads from Thrale and do they do anything magical?
3) What is that effect Anthem does against Corva? is she somehow canceling Corva’s connection to her goddess?
4) On a related note: How close to a break-up is Anthem and her allies really? none of them seem to really get along anymore:
Anthem is her usual lovable self which means none her allies is comfortable around her,
but at least Vish seemed to be her friend until that brawl in Ch11 Page 23
Corva is hated by Gilgam and tolerated by Anthem
neither Gilgam nor Lyca seem really motivated, or to have any real friendship among the others
Ismene does have a close relationship to Vish, which doesn’t make her Anthem’s favorite person
So are they all just motivated into tolerating each other long enough to cooperate in order to fight their mutual enemies,
or are any of them actually friends anymore?
Any clarification on this would be helpful -thanks
Vish really needs to watch the big Matrix fight with Neo against the hundreds of Smiths for some pointers on staff fighting against multiple enemies. With travel magic he could probably pull off the whole running on faces thing. 😉
Wild guessing re: Gilgam and Lyca; the thing that lets them ignore tamantha’s proscription on walking on Chalt also leaves them “disconnected” and emotionally detached from it.
Or they just have the regular disinterest of knowing that there’s nothing actually forcing them to help those people because, “hey that’s right; I can f*** off to my magic city in the sky and not deal with this s***.”
One thing I’m wondering if I’m misreading is the foreshadowing and veiled references to the concept of forgiveness. It seems like one of the things about Yamra and Tamantha and gods (Vish included) and even Momba Kawunei’s journey is an incapacity for redemption or forgiveness. “When the only punishment is death people will do anything to survive.”
But maybe I’m so far off-base I can’t even see the stadium anymore.

I dunno man, she crazy.
“2) Are those shoulder-pads from Thrale and do they do anything magical?”
Those are from Thrale. Low-key magical protection. Lyca has the horns hanging around somewhere, though she dyed ’em white. Vish has the boots.
Adventurers use every part of the villain.
“3) What is that effect Anthem does against Corva? is she somehow canceling Corva’s connection to her goddess?”
It’s a big ball of raw deific energy, enough to blow away Corva’s little display of power. Anthem significantly outclasses Corva in terms of both raw power and ability to use that power. (Corva used to be just a lay priestess of the Storm God; she’s still getting used to being a full-powered priestess of the Lava Goddess.)

Well, I won’t speculate on what the future holds, but yes, relations are a little strained at the moment. However, their work IS important. Working together to stop moon-people from conquering humanity is a bit different from dating at college–it’s hard to just call it quits and move to a new dorm.
