I’ve never felt bad for Maresh before, but wow… After all he’s done, one screw-up is enough to get THAT response from his boss. That really sucks… I might have to start rooting for him now.
Hrm, to be fair…I get the impression that Barabbon is shackled by Tamantha, which in itself is basically an incomplete creation, in closed beta, if you will, that or made to be inherently flawed, and made whole by Yamra’s presence.
Anyone who shackles themselves to it has the same issue-they have to follow it’s twisted ways, and without a Yamra to ‘forgive’ their failings, this ends up with them spastic glitching every now and then, if not worse.
Basically, Yamra was a load-bearing boss, keeping his law from slamming down on and ruining creation.
Buuuut this is also coming from a guy that doesn’t get half the nuances of stories like this so…

Root for him to get sense enough to switch teams. 😉
You’d think ol’ Babs would have learned something by now, but he’s still “I can’t fail; I can only *be* failed.” Typical demigod shit.
Maresh’ problem is he’s smart, maybe smart as Annie, but shackles most of that intellect to the inherent cognitive dissonance of blind faith.
