Shreyas will never catch a good husband with that sort of sarcastic attitude.
The “meditation” panels on this page were really fun to draw and turned out pretty alright. Normally I don’t like my coloring–like, at all–but I limited and muted my palette and got pretty good results.
Time to mention–or maybe re-mention–Lovecraft is Missing. It’s a wonderful comic and the artist’s use of color is a real inspiration, especially compared to my staid and unvarying palette. You’ll notice that in WPK, a guy in a blue shirt is almost always a guy in a blue shirt–the underlying color rarely changes, because I have a hard time accounting for light sources. By contrast, Lovecraft is Missing‘s artist colors with wild and non-literal abandon. The “astral/mystical” images, in particular (like what I just linked), are stunning, and I wish I had half the artist’s casual ease with choosing palettes for surreal, otherworldly scenes.
I also like Shreya’s sartorial choices. Cabled sweater and shorts is a good look for her!
I’m sorry, but when I read that last line I can’t help but think of the bloodninja chronicles.
“I put on my robe and wizard hat.”
And what Shreyas is real good at is grabbing attention.
