So I’ve been thinking about what I would have done if I were starting WPK now, having learned from over 350 comic pages. I definitely would have pre-drawn national costumes. I wish I had sketched more (and even now, I wish I had more time to experiment with what we’ll see in Chapter 9), but national costumes would have really helped tie the setting’s look together. In college, I had this 17th century world map with national outfits for dozens of countries, and I could have used that. As-is, the Hadrakah national costume is pretty well-established, though I’m not very consistent (Anthem and Vish are currently wearing modern Japanese fashion, because I am easily distracted), and several important human nationalities, like Esgavi and Vasgol (where the story takes place) aren’t well-established.
It’s okay. Costume is a language all its own, and in an unfamiliar setting, eliminating some “what’s that thing on his belt?” and “is that a hat, or is his head shaped that way?” is probably safer. You can’t richly detail ALL the things, you’ve got to focus on some stuff more than others.

“Rosie doesn’t have a brain? O.O”
Technically she’s just an over-ambitious rosebush.
And as we all know from science class, rosebushes are almost immune to tape measures. (?!)
