I’ve been getting a little lazy on the backgrounds here. Sometimes I try to convince myself that minimizing the backgrounds in a comic’s action scene is like reducing the sentence length in a novel’s action scene, but I’m pretty sure I’m just telling myself what I want to hear.
Oh, and have I said “thank you” to you folks lately? If not, thanks for reading my odd little fantasy webcomic about catfish-riding moon-people and stone-magicking blue women. WPK offers a particular kind of mixed-genre weirdness that I don’t think would even sell in the weird fantasy novel markets, so this is pretty much my only outlet. I’m glad you people are here to enjoy it with me.
I agree on the backgrounds. Mainstream comics, as well as anime, often reduce or eliminate the background scenery during action scenes to focus the attention on what’s happening, rather than where.
