Pages like this one make me imagine what The Water Phoenix King would look like if drawn by someone, y’know, good. I love the “uncoiling” effect of Turvin’s arm, but I can’t quite get it right.

I’m happy with the trees I’m drawing; reducing the hardness of the shadows makes them look round, which in retrospect is obvious but is another tiny thing I had to discover on my own. However, my more expansive forest shots (like the middle panel) still need work. I need a more “painted” style for those, I think, but my Photoshop skills aren’t yet up to the task.
