I drew this page side-by-side with page 26, just to see what it was like to pencil, ink, and color more than one page at a time. Answer: it sucks. Won’t do that again.
I really like drawing those cat-faced fire dancers. They’re anatomy, “fight scene,” and Photoshop practice all rolled into one. And this page let me put into effect something that’s always been in the back of my mind: the differing assumptions between the fantasy genre, where powerful creatures (like “fire elementals”) can troop around unharmed in an alien environment, and science fiction, where we all know “alien environment” spells near-instant death without protective gear.
Turns out that Chalt (the physical world) is as hostile to sun-dwellers as Sarwei (the sun) would be to humans.
